The Secret - Steve Caustrita

Owner: scaustrita Genre: Classic Rock Total Plays: 155
Quick Summary:

An old project from 2014 rebooted with new guitar and vocals

Media Description:

Version 4:

Fix the sub-bass issue, it was playing out down to 20hz, capped it around 80hz.

The guitar panned left is a MIDI plugin, MusicLab RealStrat. I changed the pick position further from the bridge to cut down on the bright sound.

Changed the Draw Boards on the B3 Organ, it was too dark.

Changed some compressions to ease spikes on a couple of audio tracks.

Thanks for the suggestions, they are much appreciated!

The bass is still a bit forward in the mix, only allows a max size file of 8mb(or pay more). The song is so long I have to change the MP3 bit rate to 192 kbps to make the file much smaller. That, in turn, cuts the bass levels and highs down substantially...

Version 3:

After trying Mixbus I was fascinated by the stock compression that came with the App. I knew Logic could do this too, but how? I found a Logic group call Why Logic X Rules, in a template filled with channel strips with compression settings for various instruments and vocals. In one of the templates was a plugin called Vintage Console EQ, in the controls was a setting called Output Model. When you select it there is an option for Silky (Tube EQ), that was the ticket I was looking for. Along with Multipressor (3 Band Compressor setting), I started hearing that warm analog sound I've been trying to capture. I also pick out a harmony guitar under the solo guitar to add to the country feel.

Version 2:

I just upload what shows as version 2, it is the original recording Stan sent me as an idea for this song in 2012. I didn't get to it until 2014.

This is to get an idea of how a simple tune can evolve, most musicians experienced this too.

Not sure what happened to the recording (glitches, tempo, and, dropouts).

Original Description:

Did this song Fourth of July weekend. It's an older project brought back to life with new vocals and guitars.

The vocalist and writer of the song Stan Loh is 79 yrs old.

This is my arrangement which included some chord changes and bridges, so considered cowriter by Stan.

Logic X Pro Flex Pitch...
