The Other Side Of The Mountains

Owner: Venturesome Genre: Piano Progressive Pop Total Plays: 21
Quick Summary:

Classic Lit Style Escapism With A Sweeping Sound

Media Description:

I wrote and put this together as an homage to Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" (The song, not the album).   The lyrics were partially inspired by my frequent hiking and mountaineering that I've done as well as perhaps books like "Candide," by Voltaire which talked about going to Eldorado among other concepts.    I first recorded this in 2015, which can be found on You Tube and typing "The Other Side Of The Mountains Self Reliance."

Golden weeds in the early morning

Across from the horses and hills

Staring out to the horizon

Running through my thoughts for my thrills

I'm going back to the other side of the mountains

Where the voice and the word stand aligned

I'm going back to the other side of the mountains

Where the jackrabbits run in time

And there's no reason for turning back now

Got my pack and I got my drinking water

I got my maps to read

And you stand there in your city shoes

With nothing to give you the blues

I'm going back to the other side of the mountains

Where you can run past the plows

I'm going back to the other side the mountains

Where you can jump past the cows

And there's no reason for turning back now

If you've got Eldorado fever

Season is year round now

If you've Shangri La yearning

Season is year round now

Catch the last boat for Steikhein

Season is year round now

And there's no reason for turning back now
